Marieme Esther Dassanou, Gender Director of the Mastercard Foundation, and Haile Dolango, Program Lead, Agriculture, Agribusiness, and Agrifood Systems, visited the icipe-Ethiopia office on Thursday, May 30, 2024. They met with Dr. Tadele Tefera, the country head, and the senior management team listened to presentations by Dr. Workneh Ayalew on the MOYESH major milestones and approaches to gender mainstreaming and conducted insightful discussions on how to accelerate the job opportunities for young women to make them major contributors to the economy of the country and the African continent.

“Young women are active contributors to our economy. Suppose we intentionally increase the number of jobs available to young women. In that case, they will contribute almost 300 billion dollars to the African economy in the next five years,” stated Marieme Esther Dassanou during the meeting.
